Brand Prices Up; Generics Down June 19, 2008

For those of you who are interested in this type of stuff, I think the AARP Watchdog reports (Brand Report, Generic Report) which track prescription drug prices over time are pretty interesting. (Note: This is for drugs most commonly used by Medicare recipients, but I think you’ll get the point.)

These charts are interesting. I knew that brands go up, but didn’t realize generics had dropped so much in 2007. Does it have to do with Part D (which I know very little about)?
Know idea that Ambien was so expensive – I guess they created their own market?
